He even gave a trial at the MRF Pace Academy in Chennai and was rejected in 1987 by Australian bowling great Dennis Lillee. Dennis Lillee instead told Sachin to concentrate on his batting as he was not quick enough to make an impact as a fast bowler.

Sachin Tendulkar is the only batsman in the world to score over 2,000 runs in World Cup matches. His tally of 2,278 runs in 45 matches is still unbeaten. He has also been the top scorer in a single World Cup tournament on two occasions – 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup held in South Africa and 523 runs in the 1996 World Cup held in the Asian Sub-Continent.
