Kuldhara is a small village located in western Rajasthan. The village has been abandoned since the early 1800’s. There are rumors that the place still carries the curse of villagers that once inhibited the area. Rumor has it that one night in 1825, all residents of Kuldhara and the neighboring 83 villages vanished overnight. It is said that all the villagers decided to abandon the villages to get away from the minister of the state, Salim Singh, who had fallen in love with a girl from Kuldhara and wanted to marry her at any cost. Salim Singh also threatened to levy heavy taxes on all villages if they failed to hand over the girl. All villagers decided to abandon their villages overnight and migrate elsewhere. The eerie part is that no one saw any of the villagers leave nor did anyone figure where any of them migrated to.

6. Bengal Swamps, West Bengal

The marshy lands of West Bengal are inhibited by fisher folk. However, legend has it that mysterious ghost lights or aleya lights appear unexpectedly causing fisher folk at sea to lose their bearing and even cause some of them to drown. Rumor has it that these lights are ghost lights that represent the ghosts of fisher folk who drowned while fishing.

Roopkund lake is a beautiful glacier lake located in the Himalayan ranges of Uttarakhand. This fort is rumored to house the spirit of a dark magician who fell in love with a local princess and decided to cast a spell on her to make her fall in love with him. However, the princess got wind of his plans and had him executed instead. The magician cast a spell on the place before dying.

This place is considered the most haunted place in Mumbai. Rumor has it that a woman fell into a well and died while crying for help. Rumor also has it that many onlookers were present, however none came forward to help her. This infuriated her and she has not left the place after death as well. Most people say that they see a woman lurking around the neighborhood and the well.

This fort has been known to be the center of supernatural activities during a full moon night. Rumors suggest that a young prince was murdered here and this place is still haunted by him. Locals claim that they can still hear sounds of him shrieking at night. Visit this place after sunset at your own risk as it is said to be the most haunted place in Pune.
